A high number of recently completed schemes in the Healthcare sector have utilised PermaRock’s Insulated Render Systems as an environmentally friendly, thermally efficient and fire-safe solution for their exterior wall façades.

Designers within this sector are now seeing the great advantages which PermaRock’s Insulated Render Systems can offer in terms of design flexibility and the environmental and fire performance properties of each system.

Whether you select a PermaRock Mineral Fibre, Phenolic or an EPS System, you can be certain that our insulation materials have zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential), free from CFC and HCFC’s and have zero Global Warming Potential.

The issue of fire safety is also particularly important in today’s building climate and PermaRock have a number of systems that offer the opportunity of CFC/HCFC free insulation that meet the requirements of the latest Building Regulations and can be designed for use on high-rise buildings without the need for fire breaks.

The PermaRock Mineral Fibre, PermaRock Lamella and PermaRock Phenolic Systems are fire-safe during all phases of installation, not only after the final coat of render has been applied and are recommended for multi-storey buildings and for where optimum performance in relation to fire is a serious consideration, such as in the Healthcare market.

A recent example of a scheme within this sector which has utilised the benefits of a PermaRock system is the new Stratford-upon-Avon Health Centre where the client, Stratford Primary Care Trust, wished to create administration offices, GP Surgeries, Dental and Chiropody services along with residential accommodation (all in one location). The vast array of uses for the development meant that any materials and products specified for the façades had to be fire-safe and thermally efficient.

The construction consisted of concrete frame with Metsec steel sections with a “butterfly” dual-pitch roof over. Externally, materials have been chosen to suit the contemporary appearance which is designed to contrast with the surrounding buildings using terracotta tiled rainscreen and PermaRock’s Mineral Fibre Insulated Render System with a silicone through-coloured render finish. These materials were chosen for their thermal and fire-safe properties and PermaRock’s standard range of 1400 through-coloured renders enable the designer the freedom to create a visually appealing and contrasting building as per the clients requirements.
