Lafarge Plasterboard has supplied all the drylining requirements for the recently opened Jackson Square shopping centre extension in Bishops Stortford.

Conneely Drylining has installed Lafarge’s Firecheck high performance wall board throughout the 100,000 sq ft retail mall including the very complex high level ceiling construction.

The Wilson Bowden development, designed by architects Broadway Malyan, features 8.5m high partitions which were constructed using Lafarge’s 146mm C Stud system to achieve the necessary height and stability. These also feature telescopic deflection heads with fire umbrellas constructed on site to allow for the anticipated 55mm downward deflection.

The structural steel columns in the shopping centre were given the necessary fire protection using Lafarge’s Cormet column and beam clip system. This is a very simple to fix system which can provide up to 180 minutes fire resistance. It uses a special clip in conjunction with metal angles and channels to provide a strong, rigid metal structure to which the Firecheck board can be applied.

Conneely Drylining endorses the system because it allows the plasterboard to fit tightly around the columns giving a more durable encasement.

Broadway Malyan specified Lafarge because of the proven benefits of the plasterboard systems and because of the support available from the regional Technical Specification Manager who was able to advise on the best drylining solutions to meet the technical requirements of the project and who was also regularly available on site to provide technical support.

Lafarge and Conneely Drylining also supplied all the plasterboard requirements for the adjoining development of 95 new build apartments at Jackson Square.
