Housebuilders and developers in search of fresh ideas for domestic balconies can now specify a new range of outdoor balustrade from Richard Burbidge.

Available off the shelf, Fusion Commercial outdoor balustrade offers distinctive styling and flexibility of design and installation, without bespoke costs and lead times.

Based on a fusion of timber rails and metal newels, the range is available with a choice of three infill options. Customers can choose from hardwood timber balusters; hardwood slatted panels; or ultra-contemporary glass panels, ideal for accentuating any picturesque views and creating a spacious feel.

All three systems have been tested by FIRA to resist loadings of 1.5kN/m in line with the requirements of British Standard BS6399, making the range suitable for use on domestic balconies in houses and high-level apartments, as well as on raised domestic decks, elevated more than 600mm above ground level.

For added versatility, Fusion Commercial outdoor balustrade can be installed on softwood, hardwood and composite decking surfaces, plus concrete and paving slabs.

Says Specification Product Manager David Richards: “Fusion Commercial offers a fresh alternative to the steel systems traditionally used on domestic balconies or bespoke glazed structures, which can be more costly. Thanks to its stunning aesthetics, it can add real appeal to individual properties and whole developments.”

Each of the three Fusion Commercial outdoor balustrade systems is structurally sound, thanks to a range of bracket fixings and a specially designed newel post support bar, which add significant strength.

The glass panels are available in two sizes for greater flexibility and an accurate finish. Each panel has bevelled edges for neatness and safety, and is manufactured from toughened Float glass, perfect for outdoor applications.
