 | | MAINTAINING HIGH STANDARDS AT BUTLERS WHARF | | | Dulux Trade | | 13/07/2007 | | | To ensure a long lasting finish was achieved, whatever the weather conditions, Dulux Trade has been specified as part of the Butler’s Wharf exterior maintenance programme.
Having remained derelict after its closure in 1972, Butlers Wharf is now famous for its restaurants, residential apartments and panoramic view of the capital. The high rise development is situated on the River Thames, so a durable finish was essential.
Maintenance project contractors, S. Lucas Ltd, also wanted to complete the project with as little disruption as possible. The redecoration programme had to consider the needs of both the commercial and residential tenants and ensure neither trading, nor the residents’ daily routines, were hindered.
Danny Lucas, Managing Director of S. Lucas Ltd said: “Due to the amount of disruption an exterior maintenance project can cause we needed products that not only enabled us to finish the job as quickly as possible, but that also offered the maximum durability, so we could extend the maintenance cycle. The Dulux Trade specification team provided us with a lot of information and advice on how we could successfully achieve this.”
Dulux Trade Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint was recommended for the exterior render. Providing up to 15 years protection, the formulation offers optimum protection, creating a finish that looks better for longer.
Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint is also shower resistant within 30 minutes. This means exterior decoration can take place on changeable days when it would have previously been avoided. This was great news for Butlers Wharf, as it meant there was less risk of delay.
Dulux Trade Weathershield Woodstain AP was also specified - for the building’s exterior woodwork. The woodstain is ideal for high exposure areas and will protect joinery for up to six years.
Finally, ironmongery across the Shad Thames walkways was protected using Dulux Trade Metalshield. Again, the quick drying properties made Metalshield ideal for the project, where a minimum amount of disruption was key. | |
