 | | TARMAC TOPPAVES THE WAY TO RHS AWARD | | | Tarmac | | 01/12/2006 | | | Mediterranean style hard landscaping from Tarmac TopPave has helped a garden designer scoop her first RHS medal at BBC Gardener's World Live.
Katrina Gedny specified 25sqm of TopPave's Rosetti Tiles, in Weathered Terracotta, for her themed garden Hot! Hot! Hot! which was awarded an RHS Bronze Medal at the show.
Katrina chose to tile the courtyard in Rosetti to create an authentic feel, she said: 'I wanted these tiles because terracotta is so traditionally Mediterranean and I loved the natural finish. A lot of people asked about them, they set off the rendered, white washed walls perfectly and gave the garden a real Spanish feel.'
Designed to be drought tolerant and low maintenance, the garden also featured an all year round fireplace, stunning pots and plants and a cascading water feature.
Based in Northampton, Katrina studied for a HNC in Garden Design whilst being Mum to her two young children. After graduating just last year, she began work on the garden in autumn.
She added: 'I wanted people to see something in my garden that they could use and enjoy at home, everyone who commented said they could see themselves sitting in it with a glass of wine! I'm delighted with the award, it was my first major show so it was a great achievement.'
Kerry Davis, marketing manager at Tarmac TopPave, said: 'We're always keen to support new garden designers, whether it's through advice or by providing free product. It's great that our Rosetti Tiles fitted into Katrina's Mediterranean vision so well, we hope her future gardens are just as successful.' | |
