With its architectural aluminium systems already used on Jurys Inns at Glasgow, Leeds and Southampton, Metal Technology has completed the hotel chain's 3 star Inn at Heathrow using its high spec acoustic glazing. Architects Conarc Design Group worked with contractor McAleer & Rushe and fabricator Fortress Aluminium to complete the £22m, eight storey building.

Set into a composite panel cladding system, Metal Technology System 17 curtain walling and System 4-10 windows provided the eight storey Jurys with light and comfort. Acoustic glass was used in both systems with 32mm double glazing resulting in minimum noise levels. System 17 was ideal for the dramatic two full height glazed staircase screens on either side of the building and helped create the open, airy feeling to the ground floor public areas.

A proven technology, System 17 profiles are specifically designed to give limitless flexibility to architects. Designed as a stick system, a wide range of caps ensures that the external projections suit the character and restrictions of the building. This thermally-high performance system is also tested to meet the performance requirements of BS 6375 Pt 1 and BS 4873. A full dynamic test as laid down by the CWCT has also been successfully carried out.

Metal Technology, a member of the CWCT and CAB, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
