Rotational moulding specialist, Polytank Group, one of the UK's leading brands in cold water storage, has introduced a completely new series of fitting instructions, believed to be the first of their kind in the industry, for its Polytank, Polycistern and Polytank Red ranges.
The new leaflets, supplied as standard with each product, utilise a unique 'comic strip' style format to guide the installer, step by step, through the fitting process, with the aid of clear, easy-to-follow photographs and captions.
This new initiative from Polytank acknowledges and responds to some significant changes in the water tank installation market, as Polytank Group's Chief Executive, Gary Fidler, explains: 'Whilst the majority of domestic water tanks continue to be professionally fitted by fully experienced, time-served plumbers and installers, there is no doubt that an increasing number of DIY enthusiasts and less experienced tradesmen are taking on the task of fitting the tanks themselves. This is due to a number of reasons, principally the widely reported shortage of plumbers and the continuing boom in the UK DIY market. And it's a trend that looks set to continue.
'Our new fitting instructions have been designed to ensure that even a comparative novice can fit any of our tanks without any problems. We've taken great care in identifying the key stages of the process and in getting the photography absolutely right, so that any scope for error is all but eliminated,' he said.
'The new fitting instructions have not been written with professional plumbers in mind,' asserted Fidler. 'Indeed, we have even gone so far as to include an apology to experienced installers, who we know can do the job with their eyes closed. Having said that, the new fitting instructions could help some plumbers and installers to save valuable time.'
Polytank's new fitting instructions literature is the latest in a long line of innovative ideas from the company. Polytank was the first cold water tank manufacturer to include installation kits as standard with their products. Every product in their Polytank and Polycistern ranges is supplied complete with all the necessary fittings. The company's new Polytank Red insulated primary feed and expansion tanks are fully pre-assembled. All the plumber has to do is connect up and add water.
Polytank envisages that large plumbing groups, in particular, will find the new fitting instructions to be a valuable training aid for apprentices. The leaflets will also help installers to ensure they are in full compliance with their health and safety obligations and meet quality standards.
