Celebrating the landmark sales figure of 85 million sqm of the brand leading breather membrane, members of the UK DuPont team raised a glass to the lasting success of pioneering product Tyvek® Supro. Created using unique manufacturing technology, the membrane was the first of its kind when it was launched 4 years ago, and it still sets the benchmark in its field.

DuPont™Tyvek® UK Sales Director Patrick Ward said: 'Technology originally developed by DuPont led to the creation of the vapour open membranes category, but the amazing degree of success that Tyvek® Supro has enjoyed is due to its proven performance and reputation as a high quality, reliable product. Traditional ventilated roofs incorporating bituminous felt require a lot of unattractive plastic vents and ventilation accessories, which can be expensive and time-consuming to install. In contrast, the Tyvek® Supro non-ventilated roof system allows clean sightlines as it requires no vents at all, saving contractors money as well as making their jobs that bit easier - and quicker.'

The revolutionary product provided a modern, user-friendly alternative to bituminous 1F felt, which is impervious to the passage of water vapour. With the old, traditionally ventilated roof constructions, vents often became blocked and rot would set into the timbers as there was no way for the moisture to escape from the roof void. With Tyvek® Supro, the whole roof is 'vapour-open', providing improved thermal efficiency and control of condensation by allowing water vapour to diffuse through the vapour permeable membrane located on the cold side of the insulation. Lightweight, quick and easy to install, the non-ventilated system helps to keep heat inside the building, cutting fuel costs as well as CO² emissions.

Now a well-established example of the company's commitment to the ongoing development of new, science-based solutions that allow construction professionals to conform with the latest standards and regulations, it continues to significantly improve the energy efficiency of several millions of buildings all over Europe.

Tyvek® membranes are leading global solutions for the protection of buildings and their occupants from external climatic conditions and the negative effects of condensation. Fully approved by the BBA for use in all supported and unsupported pitched roof applications, including warm, hybrid and cold roofs, Tyvek® Supro can also be used on Scottish sarking board systems, low-pitched metal roofs and walls and floors, and comes with a 30-year guarantee.
