Working at height specialist, The Access Group celebrated a successful 2005 by investing close to £600,000 in new premises on Derbyshire Lane, Sheffield.
The Group, which provides a unique total working at height solution, from design, installation and maintenance through to the training and supply of operatives, made the decision to expand into the new premises following a 50 per cent increase in staffing levels.
'The new working at height regulations, which came into force last year, brought our field of expertise to the fore,' said managing director, Stuart Cameron. 'As a result the market for working at height specialists is booming, and as we are the only company in the UK to provide a total service we have enjoyed a particularly successful period.'
Now operating from two sites in Sheffield, The Access Group's new, 10,000 sq ft HQ on Derbyshire Lane houses the company's faÇade access, fall prevention, testing and maintenance divisions, while its (RATA training and contracting centre - the largest of its kind in the UK - remains on Mowbray Street.
'The expansion is not only a signal of our recent success, but a major stepping stone towards future success,' continued Stuart. 'By moving three divisions out of Mowbray Street we have freed up a great deal of space, which can now be utilised to increase both the volume and already high quality of our IRATA training courses.'
'We are the only total service supplier in the UK, but our aim is to become recognised as the best and first choice service supplier for each of our divisions,' he added. 'The expansion, both in terms of premises and staff, sends a clear message that we are well and truly on the road to achieving this goal.'
In recent times The Access Group has worked on a number of the most high-profile developments in the UK, including the new Scottish Parliament buildings in Edinburgh, the Millennium Dome, the Eden Project in Cornwall, Heathrow Terminal 5, the Medway Bridge on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link as well as a host of projects that are currently transforming the face of its home city, Sheffield.
