 | | ACCESSING ASCOT'S COMPLEX CURVES: PANTHER PLATFORM RENTALS MAKE GOOD GOING
| | | Panther Platform Rentals | | 05/10/2006 | | | Panther Platform Rentals have been chosen by specialist steelwork contractor Waagner Biro to supply powered access equipment to Ascot Racecourse.
The world famous sporting venue is having the finishing touches completed to a major redevelopment under principal contractor Laing O'Rourke. With Royal Ascot Week scheduled to return to its Berkshire based home this month, contractors have worked tirelessly to finish the project in advance of the official opening on Tuesday 20th June.
Waagner Biro required the services of some highly specialised access equipment to maximise the productivity of work on the new stadium's innovative parasol rook structure, which features 54 bespoke support trusses. A Teupen Leo 30 from Panther's extensive fleet proved the ideal machine for the job. Offering an impressive 30m of working height and over 15m of outreach, whilst only weighing in at a diminutive 4,200kg, the tracked machine has made light work of a variety of key tasks. These include the hand painting of each roof truss, along with regular inspections and QA checks, tasks made more efficient thanks to remote control of the self propelled machine between jobs.
Richard Miller, Joint Managing Director for Panther Platform Rentals says, 'Due to most work having to be conducted from a low load bearing slab surface, an exceptional mix of low weight combined with a large operating envelope was called for. Our solution based around the Teupen really made the difference to Waagner Biro, keeping them right on schedule for the important paint finishing. '
