Any company or organisation looking to control noise problems associated with heating, ventilation or air conditioning ductwork need look no further for a solution than SoundPAC from Hotchkiss Air Supply.

Providing the optimum combination of acoustic material and section profile, the innovative SoundPAC (patent pending) concept offers enhanced attenuation performance at cost levels well below traditional solutions. The product is manufactured from open-cell melamine resin foam ensuring it is flexible, sound absorbent, non-fibrous, and dimensionally stable yet easy to cut.

SoundPAC has been developed to help contribute to the good 'housekeeping' processes outlined in the approved code of practice - The Workplace (health, safety and welfare) Regulations 1992. For example, its white colour allows inspection teams to easily check contamination levels. Also, its non-fibrous nature eliminates any risk of fibre migration, while the parent material conforms to Class O surface flame spread.

SoundPAC is produced in two basic forms: CDI for circular ducts (100-450mm diameter) and RDI for rectangular ducts (from 100x100mm up to 300x300mm). Both are available in 600mm or 1200mm lengths. The CDI inserts can normally be retained in position without the need for additional fixings, while the RDI inserts benefit from a self-adhesive film on the base.

The low cost for the installation of the product allows new build designers to specify SoundPAC as a precautionary noise control safeguard. However, being inherently flexible, the inserts are also ideal for retrofit installation where restricted access and/or minimal disruption are considerations. Common applications that will benefit from the use of SoundPAC include: residual airborne fan noise; unacceptable noise levels at grille outlets; inherent noise from fan coil units mounted in ceiling voids; and noise from system 'cross talk' where adjacent rooms share ductwork
