A new aluminium folding/sliding door system, suitable for both residential and commercial applications, has been launched by leading European building envelope specialist, SchÜco International. Known as the Royal S 70F, the system offers thermally insulated frames with a basic depth of 70 mm and attractive radius-edge profiles.

The system can accommodate door configurations ranging from two to six leaves and allows them to be stacked to one side or both sides, inside or outside the room, so giving scope for maximum design flexibility. A choice of a raised threshold or a low-level option ensures that the Royal S 70F system can comply fully with Part M of the Building Regulations.

Inward-opening doors deliver a water-tightness rating of 300 Pa, while the performance of an outward-opening configuration is double that at 600 Pa. A particular feature of the Royal S 70F system is that it is so easy to operate: mounted on twin bottom rollers and running on stainless steel tracks, the door leaves can be stacked and folded with the very minimum of effort.

Sturdy construction means that a standard door leaf can be fabricated up to 1100 mm wide x 2500 mm high, although it is possible to specify a leaf up to 2800 mm high with a reduced width. The maximum weight for each leaf is 100 Kg and the system can take all types of glazing between 6 mm and 45 mm thick.

Frames can be supplied in paint or anodised finishes with different colours on the inner and outer surfaces if required. There is a wide choice of locks and handles and, where necessary, a security level WK2 to EN 1627 can be achieved.
