 | | CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL BENEFITS FROM EUROCLAD | | | Euroclad | | 22/11/2006 | | | Euroseam roofing from Euroclad is one of the stylish and shapely components featured in the specialist metal building envelope finishing the new Children's Hospital for Wales.
The standing seam roof completes the phase one development of the hospital in Cardiff, combining an aesthetic appearance with an exceptional level of performance. Constructed from plain mill aluminium with a stucco-embossed finish, 500m2 of low pitch Euroseam was installed, providing excellent drainage whilst contributing to the innovative design of the building.
Euroseam standing seam roofs offer great design flexibility and work on the principle of 'zipping up' side laps which are then closed over supporting halters. This ensures the roof has unrivalled weatherability and durability as there are no external penetrations. Euroclad combined the latest CAD technology with a dedicated team of technical advisors to provide a comprehensive technical service.
The hospital, the first ever in Wales to be built solely for children, is located on a greenfield site adjacent to existing facilities at the University Hospital of Wales. Officially opened by Hollywood couple Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas, phase one of the project includes two 25 bed medical wards, a paediatric cancer ward and an oncology outpatients unit. | |
