 | | STO'S RAPID INTERIOR PAINT SOLUTION TO REFURB VOIDS | | | StoColor Rapid | | 13/10/2006 | | | Returning 'void' properties to rental condition as quickly as possible is an essential part of housing association property management. So it is not surprising that a new paint from Sto, which requires only a single coat to provide a fresh clean surface for internal walls and ceilings is being described as a 'miracle paint' by a housing association in Scotland, which has seen labour time halved.
Applied directly to primed walls and ceilings, the hiding power of StoColor Rapid's special high-opacity, quick drying formula is such that just a single litre is required to cover a surface area over seven square metres.
The reaction of North Glasgow Housing Association is typical of those who have tried the paint to combat soiled internal walls.
Said foreman Gary Tolland, of Clyde Contracts and Supplies Ltd, who are working with North Glasgow Housing Association: 'StoColor Rapid is like miracle paint, it has halved labour time and costs. Before we would visit a site two or three times, to chemically treat internal walls, apply an undercoat and finally the overcoat, but one coat of StoColor Rapid covers (internal) graffiti with no problem at all.'
Richard Holland, Sto technical consultant for paint said: 'StoColor Rapid is the perfect solution for internal refurbishment of void properties, its excellent covering power means it will hide anything from bright orange walls to basic graffiti. We've already had a great response and expect a high market demand.'
No special skills are required to use StoColor Rapid, it is applied in the same way as other household emulsion paints. But its environmentally-friendly water-based formula means it is free from harmful VOCs, making it safer to apply, and empty containers can be safely disposed of with normal household rubbish.
StoColor Rapid has a BS EN13 300 Class 1 rating for hiding power and whiteness and is available in 245 colours in 5 or 15 litre containers.
