 | | NEW STATE OF THE ART EXTRA CARE HOUSING SCHEME OPENS IN BRENTFORD | | | Archadia | | 14/08/2008 | | | Greenrod Place was developed in partnership with Housing 21 and London Borough of Hounslow, it is a mixed tenure development, providing 43 one and two bedroom apartments, the majority of which are for social rent, with a small number of apartments for shared ownership sale. The Housing Corporation provided grant funding for the development which was constructed by InSpace. Individual apartments include under floor gas central heating, a fitted kitchen with necessary amenities, level access shower room and the provision of assisted bathrooms.
The building is also fitted with various state of the art technological features for the convenience, safety and security of its residents. This includes a door entry system, emergency call facilities via pull cord and pendant and TV and BT aerial points to lounge and bedrooms. Residents can also enjoy the luxury of a communal restaurant, a hairdressing salon, gardens, lounges and laundry facilities. It also offers the residents peace of mind with a full time court Manager service and the availability of 24 hour tailored care.
Patrick Manwell of Archadia says: ‘The building represents a skilful development of the site and in the light of recent concerns about the withdrawal of wardens from sheltered accommodation, Greenrod Place, with its daytime on-site management and the availability of care staff at night offers a new model to Brentford for housing for older people with higher levels of disability’.
With an official opening expected early next year and a programme of activities organised by Age Concern available for residents and local older people, the many benefits of this new building are most certainly to be enjoyed well into the future. | |
