 | | UK LAUNCH FOR CLIMASYSTEM WALL AND CEILING RADIATOR GRIDS | | | Aquatherm Sales (UK) Ltd | | 12/08/2008 | | | Aquatherm is launching a new lightweight polypropylene radiator grid system ready to be built in to ceilings or walls. The Aquatherm Climasystem is being introduced to the UK following extensive “proving” in energy-efficient heating/cooling installations in mainland Europe. Climasystem heats or cools the surface of the wall or ceiling behind which it is installed by a few degrees above or below the ambient temperature. Two thirds of heating/cooling the room is achieved by radiation and one third by convection.
Aquatherm is launching a new lightweight polypropylene radiator grid system ready to be built in to ceilings or walls.
Aquatherm’s Climasystem grids, formed from the company’s exclusive fusiolen PP-R piping, are suitable for either wall or ceiling installation, in both new-build and retrofit applications. Extensive prefabrication at the manufacturing stage speeds installation and reduces time on site.
In new-build applications, due to their compact dimensions - construction thickness, including manifolds, mounting rails and connections, is only 24.5mm – Climasystem grids can be installed in both plastered walls and dry-lined partitions – the radiant grids are simply fixed behind the gypsum board in stud-framed walls.
For use in suspended ceilings, ClimaSystem radiator grids are available in 600 x 600mm tile-sized modules, making them highly suitable for retrofit applications – simply place above the ceiling tile with a layer of insulation quilt above. Thanks to their low weight – only 2.5kg/m2 including water filling – Climasystem is unlikely to require additional strengthening of the existing ceiling structure.
Aquatherm’s system employs two distinct connection methods. Wall heating and cooling grids use the “fusion” method, where connections are made by simply heating the joining elements until the pipe melts, creating a secure, welded joint, without the need for additional fittings. This method also applies to systems embedded in ceilings.
ClimaSystem in retrofit suspended ceilings comes with push-fit connectors, allowing extremely quick and simple installation. The connectors are easily demountable - and reusable - to allow maintenance within the ceiling void. As with the wall grids, ease of connection means that the systems can be extended if necessary.
Aquatherm’s fusiolen PP-R material offers high temperature and pressure capability – temperatures of 70 degrees C can be maintained with ease. As typical Aquatherm Climasystem applications operate at substantially lower temperatures than conventional commercial heating systems, material stresses are well within the capabilities of the product.
As a concealed installation, Climasystem removes the need for exposed radiators, so freeing up wall space. As a cooling system, the need for chilled beams or air-handling units is removed, reducing maintenance and running costs, and creating a clean-air environment without forced air movement.
Initially launched in green, the system is now manufactured in black to ensure discretion when used with perforated ceiling tiles or within an open ceiling void. The system may be complemented by Aquatherm’s proven Underfloor Heating System to fully condition occupied spaces.
Aquatherm Sales UK was formed in 2001 to promote polypropylene piping in building services. Its range includes piping, components for chilled and hot fluid systems, connector systems, underfloor heating systems and heating/cooling grid systems. Aquatherm is one of the world’s leading environmental piping system, and ever conscious of global warming, the UK company continues to establish and promote eco-friendly principles to an industry where energy-intensive metal systems are traditional. Having started as a one-man business, Aquatherm Sales UK now employs more than 30 people and occupies more than 1,000m2 of warehouse and fabrication workshop at Burgess Hill, East Sussex. | |
