 | | SMITH’S PROVIDES ECOVECTORS FOR COTSWOLD EFFICIENT ENERGY CENTRE | | | Smith’s Environmental Products Ltd | | 06/08/2008 | | | Heating and plumbing engineering firm AJ Buchan Ltd has installed two Ecovectors from Smith’s Environmental Products in its showroom at the Cotswold Efficient Energy Centre. Not only does the Centre have an array of solar systems and ground and air source heat pumps, the company also supplies gas and oil heating systems, condensing boilers and unvented water systems.
Company director Andy Buchan said: “We do a lot of renewable energy work for the private and social housing sectors, who visit the Energy Centre to see which product is right for them. As the building itself is retrofit, it doesn’t allow for underfloor heating, but we are able to run the Ecovector heaters from a ground source heat pump. The Ecovectors are fantastic; they work from low temperatures, have a quiet centrifugal fan and produce unobtrusive heat from the bottom of the units.”
The flat-fronted Ecovector is designed along the lines of a low surface temperature radiator and is operated by an almost silent twin-speed fan. It can be fitted to existing heating systems, as well as be used in conjunction with any natural convectors.
Its heat exchanger uses a mere 5% of the water required for an equivalent output radiator. This ensures that it heats up faster and responds quickly to changing heating requirements, dictated by fluctuating environmental changes, making it more energy efficient and cost effective. The Ecovector also draws air in from above and distributes heat from the floor level upwards, which is a first for any fan convector.
AJ Buchan Ltd has also used Ecovectors to heat a private residence and a restaurant, and is currently looking to use them to heat a nursing home. | |
