 | | NEW SADOLIN ULTRA THE BENEFITS ARE CLEAR FOR UP TO SEVEN YEARS | | | Sadolin | | 28/07/2008 | | | With the launch of Ultra, its new and advanced translucent woodstain system, Sadolin is making a confident move into the very highest end of the market and reinforcing its established position as the UK’s Number 1 Trade Woodcare Brand*.
The new Sadolin system comprises Ultra Highly Translucent Woodstain and Ultra Base Coat, specially formulated to deliver up to seven years of decoration and protection from the elements when used together on any exterior joinery, including newly planed softwoods and hardwoods.
This long lasting weather protection is the result of introducing a host of UV light absorbers to prevent radiation damage and fading, and a new low viscosity alkyd, which enables Ultra to penetrate deep into the wood for maximum adhesion. The alkyd’s low molecular weight gives the system its superior flexibility and resistance to cracking and peeling even in extreme weather conditions. It has also enabled Sadolin to reduce the solvent levels in the formulation and future proof the system with regard to 2010 VOC legislation.
What sets Sadolin Ultra apart from other translucent woodstain products is not only the extension of the maintenance cycle but also the system’s exceptional level of transparency, and the degree to which the natural beauty, grain and detailing of the wood substrate shows through.
This has been achieved by two means. Firstly Sadolin took the logical decision to create one single un-tinted basecoat, which can be used with any one of the sixteen ready mixed woodstain colours. By eliminating all pigments from the basecoat, the clarity of the overall system is enhanced. Secondly, when formulating the Ultra woodstains, conventional earth pigments have been rejected in favour of ultra fine iron oxide pigments which offer superior transparency.
