 | | TROX PROVIDE A SINGLE POINT RESPONSIBILITY WITH MSCB | | | Trox | | 25/07/2008 | | | With the increasing popularity of the multi service chilled beam (MSCB) it has become evident to TROX UK that most clients require a single point of responsibility. This includes the design, manufacture, project management and installation of the MSCB.
Since the MSCB incorporates a large number of externally sourced components, e.g. lighting, lighting control units, PIR sensors, controls, sprinklers, etc., the co-ordination by the TROX project management team with the TROX Service Division is achieved by combining them into a single team. This team then takes control of all aspects from design right through to installation.
“As manufacturers TROX were quite happy not to get too involved in ‘on site’ activities, but when the job can be won or lost by providing a single package then that’s where our service division comes into its own,” said Michael Wild, Manager of this division.
The inherent complexities of MSCBs, the need for the design team to be in constant touch with the manufacturer, and the relatively low value of installation in terms of the total contract, has led to this being the preferred procurement route for most clients. TROX Service Division in offering this installation capability have taken on many contracts and increased their labour force to nearly 100 personnel.
Michael Wild says, “TROX Service Division has worked for many large clients including Land Securities, Canary Wharf, Bovis, Haden Young and ISG, but as always you are only as good as your last job”.
With the growth in MSCBs forecasted and the other areas of our business strong, e.g. refurbishing VAV systems and specialist validation of equipment, Mr Wild sees a bright future for this TROX division. | |
