Leading manufacturer of tile adhesives, grouts and finishing products announces the second winner of its ‘Sporting Year’ competition.

Leading manufacturer of tile adhesives, grouts and finishing products, Dunlop Adhesives has announced the winner of the second phase of its unique Sporting Year competition. Nigel Jervis - a plumber and builder from Toppesfield in Essex - scooped the tickets to see England take on South Africa during the first day of the npower test after picking up an entry form from the Saffren Walden branch of Dunlop Adhesives’ stockist, Ridgeons.

Launched at the beginning of 2008, The Dunlop Adhesives Sporting Year is just the latest example of the manufacturer’s staunch and on-going commitment to helping merchants drive sales. Capitalising on the strong association between the Dunlop brand and sport, it offers end users the chance to win tickets to a different high-profile sporting event each quarter.

In March, a tile fixer from Northumberland walked away with tickets to see the John Smith’s Grand National at Aintree whilst the next prize up for grabs is perhaps the biggest of them all - the opportunity to win flights, accommodation and tickets to see the Italian Grand Prix in Monza in September.

To ensure end users are fully aware of the competition, whilst also raising the already high profile of the Dunlop Adhesives’ brand and its products, the 12-month campaign is fully supported by advertising, Point-of-Sale relating to each giveaway and special Sporting Year merchandise.

Speaking of Nigel’s success and the on-going promotion, Debi Bailey, Senior Product Manager at Dunlop Adhesives, commented: “Not content to be just a ‘supplier’, Dunlop Adhesives believes in working in partnership with merchants. Recognising that our stockists’ success directly influences our own, we conceived the Sporting Year as a new, innovative and additional way of helping them to drive sales.

She continued: “Thanks to the calibre of the prizes and its own programme of dedicated marketing support, the promotion has been well received with the number of entrants growing every quarter. Congratulations to Nigel and good luck to all those who enter the next phase. With the opportunity to watch a Formula One race in Monza on offer, we’re expecting more entries than ever.”

Meanwhile, winner of the cricket competition, Nigel Jervis, added: “I’ve been into cricket ever since I was a young lad and so I’m absolutely delighted to have won. Watching England at Lords is going to be a big day out for me.”
