- Construction specialist G&H Group forms new partnership with Jansons Property and Verbus Systems
- Most important breakthrough in construction technology for 100 years
- Innovative Verbus modular building system used to construct hotel

Heathrow: Today, in a collaborative venture, contractor G&H Group, property developers Jansons Property and Verbus Systems together unveil the world’s newest innovation in construction technology - the Verbus modular building system - to create a 307 bedroom Travelodge hotel near London Heathrow.

The G&H Group supply innovative, expert construction solutions to the hospitality, healthcare, retail, commercial and education sectors. A significant contributor to the essential conceptual design of the Verbus system, they were directly involved in the development of the fixing mechanism at the heart of the Verbus System

Janson Property, backed by The William Pears group, is a property investment and development company with interests across a wide portfolio of property sectors, but currently concentrating on growth in the hotel sector. Their aims are to maximise land value and to pioneer the modular approach to hotel construction. Janson has developed a strong working relationship with the G&H Group, who themselves are major shareholders in Verbus Systems Ltd.

The Verbus construction system is a newly developed, patented technology, used to create top quality flexible accommodation solutions at high volume and with a 10% saving against the cost of traditional build.

The Verbus System, which can be completed 25% faster than standard construction methods, has been acclaimed by the construction industry as the first major advance in construction design & technology, since the introduction of the steel frame 100 years ago.

These top quality and highly economical buildings are structured using robust, manufactured steel modules that can be combined to create a wide range of shapes and can be adapted to different building requirements. They can be assembled up to 16 storeys high and are completely adaptable and customisable.

Key benefits:
- Economical - costs are reduced by utilising benefits of established production line.
- Environmentally friendly - Verbus modules have low material wastage and transported using mature logistical chain to reduce fuel and delivery costs.
- Sustainable: Modules have a structural life of more than 60 years, and can be easily updated.

There are many uses for this method of construction including budget hotels, office spaces, university accommodation, affordable housing and hospitals. Travelodge is the first hotel group worldwide to use the Verbus System.

Paul Harvey, Travelodge’s Director of Property & Development, said: “We see this method of construction as a viable way for us to achieve our ambitious growth targets. By using such an innovative approach to building hotels we will be able to cut 10% from the cost of each build, and improve construction speed by 25%. The method also presents interesting recycling options given the steel containers can be reused or melted down. On the basis of environmental life cycle modeling, we know modular construction is environmentally friendly so there is tremendous benefit on a number of levels.”

Mark Allies M.D. of G&H Group commented “This is our third Verbus project and our largest to date. We have proved that the system can work in a Greenfield site and now two highly complex Brownfield city centre locations. The Heathrow project is particularly challenging because of logistical issues like the airport and its location”
