Sitting proudly on the seafront of the seaside town of Morcambe, the Midland Hotel is a distinctive curved grade II listed art deco hotel, recently fully refurbished by Urban Splash.

A modern day classic, the Hotel was recently reopened after an extensive 3 year refurbishment, which included the installation of over 400m² of solid unfinished FSC Certified Jatoba strip flooring in the dining room and reception area. The flooring was supplied by Atkinson & Kirby, who custom manufactured the flooring at their factory in Ormskirk Lancashire.

The original flooring in the hotel had been laid in a distinctive chevron pattern, which they wanted to recreate in the refurbishment. Therefore the 140mm wide flooring was custom machined without end matching, in 2m to 3m lengths, in order to recreate the look.

Bespoke manufacturing is a speciality of the Company that has a ‘can do’ attitude. If a species, size or product isn’t part of their standard range, if they can source it or manufacture it then they will.
