 | | DELOITTE MOVES OFFICES WITH KEDINGTON
| | | Kedington | | 12/12/2006 | | | Preferred cabling expert ensures smooth relocation for Cork office
Dublin, Ireland, Wednesday, 9 August 2006 ...Deloitte uses Kedington to provide cabling schematics and implementation services for its new Cork offices. The green field Deloitte office on Lapps Quay benefits from false floor access, delivering Systimax GigaSPEED (Cat6) UTP cabling system throughout. Deloitte now has access to cost-effective Voice over IP telephony, video conferencing between offices and building access control systems over the new cabling.
John Gray, head of IT and Operations for Deloitte, is very pleased with the results. 'The Deloitte project team worked very closely with the design, build and mechanical and electrical agencies involved in the project from a very early stage, and this resulted in a very positive outcome - both on time and to budget. Kedington has worked with Deloitte for more than ten years and is our preferred partner for our cabling requirements across our three offices in Dublin, Cork and Limerick. We brought Kedington in at the very early stages and their advice and expertise in planning this infrastructure fit-out has been invaluable. We set ourselves an aggressive completion target which has been successfully met by all involved. Clients and staff alike are very happy with the overall results.
'In addition, the new offices have eliminated any residual network issues we may have had in our old building which translates into less downtime for our business and less support issues for my IT team,' says Gray.
The new offices cover some 1,500 square metres and cater for 100 Deloitte employees. The greenfield nature of the building allowed Kedington to specify false floors across the top two floors. As Kedington's Ger Kilcommons, Cork area manager, says: 'Deloitte had outgrown its existing office in Cork which is a listed building. Moving
to new offices freed Deloitte from many legacy issues and allowed us to implement new features as well as future proof the building.
'Each desk has its own floor box which has ample room for possible future cabling. Voice over IP is implemented as standard across the company, greatly reducing telephony costs.
'In addition, the installation of video conferencing has proven a great benefit to staff across the three offices. Moving to the new building allowed us to install state-of-the art cabling and deliver state-of-the art services,' concludes Kilcommons. Deloitte's management of the new Cork office is simple to maintain. As Gray explains: 'We have a detailed schematic of all cabling across the building rendering it easy to patch and unpatch networking loops. A great benefit of working with Kedington is that we have a professional solution installed in Cork and a one stop shop for all our cabling needs going forward.'
