Access control specialist TDSi has launched SOLOgarde, a dedicated stand alone door controller.

Developed to provide a high quality, cost effective access control solution for use in a wide range of applications, SOLOgarde is fast and easy to install and to program. Capable of supporting up to 1,000 users, the system utilises the highly secure MIFARE® smartcard technology, enabling users to carry and use just a single card for multiple applications, for example, cashless vending and canteen services.

The SOLOgarde controller provides a great deal of flexibility - for example, the ‘toggle mode’ feature allows the system to be used to set or unset an intruder alarm for specific users. The same functionality could be used to allow specified card holders to unlock and then lock specific rooms for a period of time, simply by presenting their card to the reader at the start and end of the period. This could be a particularly useful function in the administration of conference rooms, lecture theatres etc.

The unit has also been developed with the needs of disabled users in mind; a DDA user group automatically applies an extended lock time for card holders assigned to that preset group.

A key feature of SOLOgarde is the innovative hand-held programmer. Easy to use, the programmer completely eliminates the need to manage and control shadow cards, allowing not only the easy and clear management of all user cards, but also enabling more advanced functionality – such as controller settings and diagnostic features.

If required a second reader may also be connected to the SOLOgarde controller providing true read-in/ read-out capability

Installation too is quick and straightforward. SOLOgarde requires jus a standard electrical back box, so there is no need for a special enclosure and the spring loaded terminals mean that no special fitting tools are required.

Commenting on the product launch at IFSEC, TDSi’s Managing Director, John Davies, said: “SOLOgarde effectively plugs a gap that existed in our range for an entry level, stand alone door controller. We now have products and systems that span the complete access control range, from stand alone applications to multi site fully integrated networked systems.

“Each system though fully reflects our quality and service ethos, ensuring that specifiers, installers, security professionals, building managers and users can work with our products and systems with absolute confidence.”
