Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) is delighted to announce that its software has been approved by the CLG as accredited software for the calculation and creation of non-domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in England and Wales.

The route for compliance offered as part of IES’s module has been accredited. is part of IES’s world leading suite of integrated building performance analysis tools, the .

IES offers training and accreditation examination on , allowing users to become Accredited Energy Assessors via the following schemes:
- BRE Global Accreditation (Levels 4&5)
- CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor (Levels 4&5)
- Stroma Accreditation (level 3 and Levels 4&5)

Accreditation is designed to enable users of the IES to demonstrate their understanding and competency in using the software to create Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and also where appropriate to undertake the required non-dwelling Part L (England and Wales) carbon emission calculations. The qualification is assessed by IES and has been independently audited to UKAS standards.

About IES’s EPC capabilities
Through our CLG accredited software, IES leads the way in sophisticated performance analysis tools by which to assess compliance with the conservation of Building Regulations across the whole of the UK. For non-dwellings, it offers both SBEM and DSM routes.

IES Consulting also offers a variety of EPC consultancy services for property owners, landlords and the design team. We are ensuring that our employees are amongst the first non-dwelling Accredited Energy Assessors for levels 3, 4 and 5.

Different EPC levels
Non-dwelling Energy Assessors must restrict their activities to those within their competence, which can be at one or several levels depending on their accredited experience on the different SBEM and DSM based software tools.
• Level 3 – can undertake energy inspections of existing non-dwellings with frequently occurring characteristics using the SBEM method.
• Level 4 – can undertake energy inspections of new-build and existing non-dwelling using the SBEM method.
• Level 5 – can undertake energy inspections of new-build and existing non-dwellings using the DSM method.

In general it is accepted that in certain situations SBEM is not sophisticated enough to provide an accurate assessment of a building’s energy efficiency (i.e. on more complex building) and therefore in reality only those assessors accredited on DSM tools (level 5) will be able to create EPC’s valid for any non-dwelling regardless of size or complexity.
