 | | SMITH’S HYDROFLAMES HELP HEAT HEREFORDSHIRE HOUSING | | | Smith’s Environmental Products Ltd | | 01/07/2008 | | | When Herefordshire Housing (HHL) needed a reliable product to heat over 600 homes, there was only one appliance that met all the necessary requirements: the Hydroflame from Smith’s Environmental Products. Connecting to the central heating system like a radiator yet looking like an open fire, HHL has been installing Hydroflames since 2004.
The Hydroflame is fan-assisted, so it can circulate heat around the room quickly and evenly. The flame-effect means that the product looks like a fire, creating a focal feature, even when the heating system is switched off. Unlike a gas fire, it uses the hot water from the central heating system to produce heat and, as a result, needs no independent gas supply. No potentially harmful CO gasses are produced, eliminating the need for a flue or CO detector. There are no live flames or hot coals and, for increased safety, Hydroflame has a low surface temperature.
Peter Knill, Building Services Manager at Hereford Housing, said: “We’re very impressed with Smith’s Environmental Products, both with their appliances and their services. We install Hydroflames when replacing gas fires or as standalone products, due to their high quality and energy efficiency. I also have to say that Smith’s has the best back-up service I’ve ever experienced – the Hydroflame comes with a five-year guarantee.”
As it operates as part of the central heating system, the Hydroflame’s running costs are negligible. There is no need for annual safety checks or regular servicing, while average usage on normal heat output will add less than £5 a year to annual heating bills.
HHL is a not-for-profit Registered Social Landlord, providing decent homes for over 5,000 households in Herefordshire and is the largest Social Landlord in the County. | |
