While a large number of glazed aluminium entrance door systems have failed to stand up to the rigours of the education environment, a version of Fendor’s SecureLine steel glazed door range has proved itself in a number of challenging situations.

The company contends that the strength and versatility of SecureLine entrance doors make them ideally suited to the multiple demands imposed on doors and entranceways in education establishments.

Managing Director, Chris Duffy, asserts: “Schools and colleges represent very high volumes of pedestrian traffic, frequently in congested bursts of activity at lesson changeovers or the end of the day; so the potential for wear and tear, as well as damage is high. PFI contractors and estates managers have discovered to their cost that aluminium door systems are generally not up to the job in these high use traffic areas.

“For the entrance door to be low maintenance and offer high physical security both the door and its ironmongery must be robust enough to stand up to the daily use, while there may also be the requirement to comply with the DDA and Approved Document L, as well as contribute to creating a light and attractive entranceway or reception area.

“The steel door we have developed within our SecureLine range addressed all these demands and has proved itself in both new build projects and school establishments where there had been past problems with aluminium doors.”

Such is the strength of the Fendor School Entrance Door System, with its fully welded corner joints, that wider openings can be filled without the need to resort to extra deep mid or bottom rails. Then there is a unique built-in floor pivot block to minimise building work in either new build or refurbishment applications.

A choice of glazing options from laminated glass to polycarbonate can be retained with the snap-on beads while the frame profiles can accommodate mechanical, magnetic or electronic locking mechanisms. Automatic openers are also available for DDA compliance.

Fendor can provide full contract case histories, technical literature and site specific guidance on product specification.
