 | | COLOURFUL CLASSICS GRACE OVERWATER WARD | | | Polyflor Ltd | | 24/06/2008 | | | Eye-catching geometric inlays in a variety of attractive shades are featured in the flooring of recently refurbished Overwater Ward at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, Cumbria.
Created from colours from the Polyflor Classic Mystique PUR range of polish-free heavy duty sheet vinyl floorcoverings – from commercial flooring specialist Polyflor Ltd – the inlaid designs were produced via the Polyflor Expressions Design Service which uses computerised water jet cutting techniques to produce precise shapes and styles.
The flooring was installed by local flooring contractor T&T Flooring Contractors who also fitted Polyflor’s Forest FX timber effect sheet vinyl flooring in the ward’s day room.
Classic Mystique PUR, available in 30cm and 608mm tiles as well as 2mm gauge sheet, offers a balanced choice of 16 calm tonal shades. The flooring features a high quality polyurethane reinforcement which, combined with a superior closed surface finish, facilitates a low cost, polish-free maintenance regime for the lifetime of the flooring, achieving savings of up to 48% compared with untreated vinyl flooring and improving ease of cleaning therefore assisting in the Trust Infection Control agenda.
The product achieves the highest possible “A” rating under the BRE Green Guide to Specification scheme and independent test results demonstrate that it also inhibits the growth of MRSA on the flooring. An effective cleaning regime is, however, the most important defence against infection.
Classic Mystique PUR meets the performance requirements of EN 649 and, fully tested to fire safety standard EN 13501-1, is certified as Class Bfl-S1, achieving the criteria EN ISO 9239-1 ?8kw/m² and the mandatory requirement of EN ISO 11925-2 pass.
Sophisticated and highly realistic wood designs in an impressive choice of shades and textures are key features of Forest FX. The range features 14 of the most widely specified wood colours, including oak, beech, maple and cherry as well as teak and mahogany.
Forest FX also features a polyurethane reinforcement (PUR), which protects the floor during installation and handover and facilitates a lifelong polish-free maintenance regime.
Polyflor Forest FX can be welded at the seams to provide a hygienic surface, offering no sanctuary to dirt and bacteria, and is available in 20mx2m rolls, providing the flexibility to cover large flooring areas swiftly. | |
