The introduction of the Ecoplay micro greywater recycling system from CME Sanitary Systems has opened a new chapter in self-build sustainability by providing a highly effective and thoroughly proven way for self-builders to reduce the water consumption of their new property.

Ecoplay provides a clever fit-and-forget solution that recycles water from baths and showers ready for use in flushing toilets. Including an Ecoplay unit in a self-build property can reduce the volume of fresh water which that property uses for toilet flushing by up to 30%.

It also allows self-builders to add extra environmental value to their project, by help a property achieve a minimum water usage pass level of 3 /4 under the Code for Sustainable Homes, and this in turn can make a significant contribution towards a successful planning application.

Despite only having been launched onto the UK market late last year, Ecoplay has already been voted as Green Product of the Year at the inaugural Sustainable Building Services Awards and has received the Waterwise Marque from Waterwise, the leading UK authority on water efficiency
