 | | VAILLANT ECOMAX IS THE ANSWER TO CHURCH’S PRAYERS | | | Vaillant | | 20/06/2008 | | | Vaillant has provided a new high efficiency condensing ecoMAX combination boiler for Goring-on-Thames Free Church in Oxfordshire. The boiler was installed by Ken Chandler and team at CMC Boiler Services Ltd.
It was during its annual gas safety check that the boiler at the church was condemned, resulting in the specification of a new Vaillant boiler. Ken Chandler of CMC Boiler Services Ltd said: “We generally use Vaillant boilers now, ever since the Building Regulations changed to insist on condensing boilers. It was a straightforward decision to specify an ecoMAX boiler.
“We faced an installation challenge in that the central heating system at the church is an older system with cast iron radiators that are at least 50 years old or more. Because of their age, they are starting to show signs of water damage, so we had to make sure that the system pressure from the new high efficiency boiler didn’t cause any damage to them and the pipes, while the debris inside the system didn’t damage the boiler. The system was too fragile to flush. Our solution was to use a heat exchanger between the boiler and the system which solved both challenges simultaneously. ”
Owen Morrel, who is the administrator at Goring on Thames Free Church, said: “Ken’s firm have serviced our boilers for quite a long time now and we’re very happy with what they do. We were having our gas safety check for both our church boiler, as well as for the boiler in the manse, and it became very evident that our church’s boiler had to be condemned. It was an open flue system and there was something seriously wrong with the way the flue was operating; it was at least 15 years old.
“It was clear we would have to replace it, and Ken suggested a Vaillant boiler. He also suggested fitting a heat exchanger between the boiler and our 1950s cast iron radiators to prevent the debris from the radiators interfering with the brand new boiler, and also transform the pressure from the new boiler so that the system could cope with the high efficiency boiler. It meant we didn’t need a completely new system at this time. The boiler works very well and we have a nice comfortable church by the time our 80-strong congregation settle down for the service at 10:30am each Sunday.”
The ecoMAX commercial range of high efficiency condensing boilers is available in three power output options. All boilers are all SEDBUK Band 'A' rated and use fuel more economically with a high performance stainless steel heat exchanger capturing otherwise wasted heat. Each unit features an easy to use, advanced diagnostic display, which, combined with a single electronic circuit board, simplifies commissioning, servicing and operation. Best in class emissions within European standards are achieved with a fully modulating low NOx burner that automatically matches heat output to demand. | |
