Speedy Hire
20/06/2008

Speedy Hire – the UK’s largest tool and equipment hire business – has been recognised for service excellence at the Health and Safety Expo 2008, organised by the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF).

The award, granted every year to organisations that offer the most exceptional and innovative service solutions, is based entirely on customer feedback.

Mark Turnbull, group safety, health, environment and quality director director at Speedy Hire said: “It is especially satisfying to have received this award, as it shows that the hard work we put in every day is being recognised by our customers.

“Health and Safety in the construction industry has been a top priority for a number of years and we will continue to provide the equipment, the training and the advice to help our customers meet a wide range of health and safety standards.”

Speedy’s award winning health and safety campaign, Safety from the Ground Up, aims to increase the awareness of risk and promote safer practice when working. The campaign has focussed on a variety of issues, including dust, hand-arm vibration, manual handling and working at height.

As part of the campaign, free ‘toolbox talks’ – highlighting new regulations and promoting safe working practice – are available to customers. Speedy also has a range of dedicated communications packs containing information and presentation tools on all of the issues and hundreds of Speedy’s staffs have been trained to raise awareness. To date over 150,000 operatives have attended Speedy’s toolbox talks.

Sir John Cullen, President of the BSIF and one of the panels of judges for the award said: “Speedy Hire was selected for one of our awards as the feedback from customers was excellent across the board. Speedy has proven that it has helped its customers significantly improve their health and safety performance.”

Speedy also enjoyed success at the inaugural European Rental Awards in Amsterdam with chief executive Steve Corcoran voted rental person of the year.
