NEW DESIGN POSSIBILITIES with large format clay blocks are brought to life with the 2008 spring edition of Ibstock’s highly popular Dzine architectural magazine.

The Dzine guide is specifically published to provide support and give inspiration to architects through detailed working drawings and descriptions on the latest projects. The magazine also gives technical guidance on building with brick and information on the latest new products from Ibstock.

The ‘Size Matters’ issue features five projects in the North, Midlands and South, with different construction details to demonstrate how large format bricks will meet modern construction methods.

The projects include a new community police station at Tipton, West Midlands; the dramatic new Humanities Building at the University of Manchester; seaside sheltered accommodation in Margate, Kent; and the giant multinational Unilever’s new headquarters in Leatherhead, Surrey.

The ‘Back to Basics’ article in this issue looks at the many exciting new size formats available for today’s architect, from the large and square to the slim and long, how to design with them and the requirements for bonding, laying, mortar and movement. In addition, Ibstock gives important technical advice on minimising efflorescence on brick walls during construction this spring.
