Recyclable stainless steel sheeting that does not contain nickel and is therefore better value for money than its austenitic peers is now available in the UK through Arval from ArcelorMittal Construction.

The ferritic Kara brand has been developed in response to architects who want the high fashion, bright stainless steel look for cladding buildings … but cannot justify the cost. Kara’s lack of nickel means the product is not subject to the price fluctuations this alloy attracts.

Available through Arval in a Colorissime mirror-finish high-gloss (more finishes are in development), Kara can be fabricated by ArcelorMittal Construction in a variety of profiles to magnify lines to give a depth of reflection virtually unparalleled in any other cladding material.

Chris Allwood, managing director of ArcelorMittal Construction (UK), said: “Creating a ferritic brand is a bold and innovative undertaking in the steel industry. It reflects our commitment to differentiation for our customers in an increasingly demanding environment.”
