Concerned for maximum site efficiency and for operating exactly to building schedules, S. Lucas Ltd, specialist painting contractors to the construction industry, have established a Logistics & Consolidation Centre in a large warehouse in Wrotham, Kent.

The new facility enables the company to pre-plan site work and gathers together in one place the various items required to complete a contract. This allows the company to have complete control of deliveries to site using its own fleet of vehicles. They use the warehouse as a “supermarket” drawing items from stock and delivering them to site on a “just in sequence” basis precisely meeting the project’s building schedule.

In this way, efficiency is optimised and environmental impact is minimised.

The Centre is a further development in S. Lucas’s drive to make its operation as eco-friendly as possible. Together with Dulux Trade, the company is sponsoring the use of the innovative Dulux Environmental Brush and Roller Wash System, which is designed to provide painters with an environmentally responsible way of washing out painting tools, such as brushes and rollers.

In addition, the Logistics & Consolidation Centre at Wrotham is also equipped with Waste Safes for the safe disposal of paint tins and the like.
