 | | REGISTER OFFICE ‘A TOUCH OF GLASS’ THANKS TO VENTROLLA | | | Ventrolla | | 29/05/2008 | | | Window renovation specialist Ventrolla has completed a large restoration project at Kingston upon Thames Register Office.
Jim Neale, sales director for Ventrolla South East, said: “There was a problem with the existing windows as they were not effectively insulating the building in the colder months. Also, ventilation was poor when the outside temperature was warmer, as the staff couldn’t open the windows due to many of them being painted shut.
“Kingston upon Thames Register Office is in a conservation area, therefore it was essential to renovate as many of its sash windows as possible to their original, classic appearance to maintain the character of the building.”
NPS Property Consultants, based in Hampton Court, specified Ventrolla because of its 21 years of expertise working with sash windows and its sympathetic approach to renovation.
Ventrolla, which has offices throughout the UK, renovated more than 100 sash windows to their former glory, with only three replacement bottom sashes and seven new lower box assemblies required.
Ventrolla tackles window renovation in two sections. Firstly, the window is overhauled so that it operates correctly, then the patented Perimeter Sealing System is installed which eradicates rattles and minimises draughts, heat loss, external noise and dust ingress.
Three windows had timber which was beyond repair; therefore Ventrolla closely replicated the existing design to ensure the character of the building was maintained.
