Redland has launched DesignMaster 5, a fully updated version of the company’s popular, free, CD and web-based based roof tile specification tool for architects and specifiers.

The latest CD version incorporates more than 5,000 roofing drawings in DWG format – double the number of the previous version - for pitched roof specifications using both traditional rafters and, new for this issue, rigid sarking. A number of product ranges have also been added, including DuoPlain interlocking tiles, Cathedral clay pantiles and the Redland Metal Roofing System.

There are up to six pitches for each drawing. All are compliant with the current Building Regulations and British Standards, including Part L, and include the related NBS-based specification clause.

Other new features include free software to view and print CAD drawings, plot-style tables to help achieve the best results when printing, and AutoCAD blocks to enable bespoke details to be built up using Redland products.

Said Kevin Ley, Redland’s technical manager: “With a streamlined menu DesignMaster 5 is now even easier to use than before, and we have added a read-me instruction file to take new users through the DesignMaster process. But it is very simple. Users have a choice of PC or Mac versions and can select from our GB or Ireland product ranges. Specifiers in Scotland will be particularly pleased that we now include drawings for sarking roofs.

“DesignMaster has always been a valued and well-liked service, and I am sure that the new version will be more popular than ever.”
