UK temperature control hire specialist Carrier Rental Systems has announced that 2008 will see the highest level of investment in new equipment, people and service in the company’s history. This follows the acquisition, in 2007, of its parent company Longville Group by Carrier Rental Systems International.

Revealing the investment plan Sales Director Marc White said, “this is a really exciting time, with investment in equipment, improved processes and additional resources: we are going to grow the business, offer the best solutions for our customers and continue to give the most professional service.”

The investment is being made in a very wide range of equipment, from a specialised small Carrier 20 kW chiller that will fit in a lift for easy siting on London roofs, to supplementary 1200 kW Carrier chillers. The 1200 kW Carrier chiller is the largest single unit, air-cooled water chiller available for hire in the European market. It is expected to prove a very attractive option as it has an exceptional foot print v kW capacity ratio. It also features split power input and screw compressors for maximum load efficiency.

The Carrier Rental Systems fleet of air handling equipment is also being extended. In particular, the size 50 ahu range will have substantial numbers added. These units are very popular as they can be placed inside an area that needs cooling and re-circulates the air as well as removing heat. This unit can also be free blowing from its top plenum box or ducted into the floor plenum of a down flow cooling system perhaps in an existing datacentre. Additional size 15, 50, 100, 150 and 450 ahus that can be used for cooling, heating, ventilation, or even as dry air coolers for a customer’s process or production applications, have all been delivered.

All the necessary ancillaries for quick connections into systems, hoses, cabling and many other time-saving items are part of the investment. People and places are also part of the picture.

Over the last few months a recruitment drive has begun to bear fruit. The company is able to add new sales and service resources to the business. At the front end the first person to join is a dedicated, experienced Area Sales Manager for the London area (inner M25), Stephen Busette. His appointment will be followed by that of another Area Sales Manager for the South West of England.

A new service supervisor has already joined the southern team, and additional refrigeration engineers have joined the Leyland-based equipment service and testing facility.

Plans are well-advanced for the opening of a new depot in the South to offer even quicker responses to customers where emergency projects require it and to cope with a continuing programme of growth. An announcement will be made shortly.
