LAKESMERE STRIKES GOLD AT THE NFRC ROOFING AWARDS

For the third year running, leading building envelope specialists Lakesmere has scooped an award at the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) Excellence in Roofing Awards. The company won the top accolade in the Roof Sheeting category for its work on the striking grandstand development at Aintree Racecourse, which is the first project in the UK to feature the innovative Kalzip XT system.

Aintree Racecourse has been one of Lakesmere’s most technically challenging projects to date. To successfully create the unusual design of the two grandstands which feature aluminium cladding that curves around the eaves and sweeps down along the rear wall, Lakesmere designed each of the individual sheets using 3D CAD technology.

After beating off strong competition from five other finalists, Lakesmere is delighted to be repeating the success enjoyed at last year’s event when the company won the Roof Sheeting award for the prestigious Liverpool South Parkway Interchange project.

The winners of the 2008 NFRC Awards were announced at a special ceremony held in Cardiff on the 16th May.
