Channel drainage specialist, Polytech, has expanded its range of drainage systems for hygienic applications, with the launch of Poly-Hygiene, a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) channel that offers a cost effective alternative to traditional stainless steel products.

Being manufactured from HDPE makes Poly-Hygiene a highly versatile and cost effective system. Channels are easy to cut on-site, with the joints either overlapped and mechanical or homogenous welded, to provide a 100 percent watertight system. To offer greater flexibility with design and installation, irregular angles, tees and facetted radii are readily available.

As well as providing excellent chemical resistance, the HDPE composition of Poly-Hygiene has a low coefficient of adhesion. This ensures the consistent evacuation of fluids essential for a hygienic application, such as food preparation spaces in commercial kitchens, or throughout a swimming pool facility, for example.

Richard Longbottom, technical sales director, Polytech, comments: “Stainless steel channel systems have traditionally been the only option for hygienic applications because of the importance of keeping floor areas well drained and the need for a product to have low adhesion properties. Poly-Hygiene is a cost effective alternative that offers the same superior performance level and is also easier to install.”

Available in 150, 200 and 300mm nominal widths, Poly-Hygiene is supplied in two metre standard lengths and depths ranging from 104mm to 464mm. The range includes channels classified as suitable for loads A15kn to E600kn.

Gratings are manufactured in HDPE, stainless steel and ductile iron, offering a choice of contrasting and high quality surface finishes.

The aesthetics of Poly-Hygiene can be further enhanced with the addition of a stainless steel veneer to the channel edge.
