The New York College of Technology is operational using a new sophisticated alarm system with cabling supplied by AEI Cables.

A networked master fire alarm system ensures information is supplied to and from other control panels for different areas of the building.

Using Firetec Standard, the system can also open doors which are normally locked on a swipe card system for those who may be in the building in the event of fire.

The system also shutdown down air conditioning systems and air handling systems as part of its function.

Jim Duffy, Chief Executive of AEI Cables, said: “Providing the correct cabling and the correct system is crucial in these environments where large numbers of people can be moving about in close proximity.”

The cabling was supplied through Bennett and Fountain, Leeds, part of Edmundson Electrical Ltd, and installed by Ven Electrical Services Ltd, Leeds, on behalf of ADT Leeds.

The experience gained by AEI in working across industries worldwide has resulted in one of the most comprehensive cable product ranges available anywhere.

This includes power generation and transmission, offshore, general wiring and construction, transportation, defence and cables for heavy industrial applications.
