Independent Access Lifts has announced an upgrade of its popular Ambassador platform lift. Designed to provide access for disabled and mobility impaired people, the new Ambassador has an increased load capacity of up to 630 kg and now works using a screw and nut mechanism for an ascent which is quieter and nearly twice as fast. Like its predecessor, the lift’s mechanisms are all self-contained in a side panel so there’s no need for a separate machine room or pit, making this lift a cost-effective and easy-to-install solution. A flexible approach has always been key to the Independent Access Lifts portfolio, so, not only are there an array of optional safety features, doors and finishes, but the Ambassador is now offered with a range of platform sizes too, enabling it to be installed into a wide variety of construction environments. Finally, the Ambassador is offered for the first time with a choice of half and full-height internal mirrored wall panels giving the appearance of a passenger lift if required.

Commenting on the move, Managing Director Stephen Coak said: “Our Ambassador platform lift has been our hero product for many years, but it’s imperative that we act on customer feedback which has suggested that people want a faster lift. I’m confident that the changes we’ve made to its functionality, matched with our expert advice and exemplary service levels, will further boost its appeal amongst the architects and project managers we work with, whilst providing enhanced safety and comfort for end-users.”

The Ambassador fully meets all Part M and EN81 (Part 41) criteria for adherence to Disability Discrimination Act stipulations, and is suitable for travel up to 5 metres or 2 stops. Independent Access offers a full range of short-rise and multi-stop lifts too for alternative applications.
