 | | NEA CHOOSES SMITH’S TO HEAT LOWICK COMMUNITY HALL | | | Smith’s Environmental Products Ltd | | 14/12/2007 | | | Lowick Community Hall is reaping the benefits of its new air source heat pump renewable energy system, which is being used to power Signature and Sterling fan convectors from Smith’s Environmental Products. The renewable energy product, has been installed as part of a project organised by National Energy Action (NEA) and funded by ScottishPower, has been able to bring environmental and economic benefits to the community.
Arthur Scott, NEA’s technical manager, commented: “Micro-generation technology, in particular air source heat pumps, is something we’ve been trying for a few years now and we are confident to say that they are an ideal option for community halls. Running fan convectors from Smith’s Environmental Products at Lowick was an obvious choice, because radiators don’t function at the lower water temperature (40 degrees) produced by the heat pump. Underfloor heating was another option, but that’s unsuitable for existing buildings and just not as energy efficient as fan convectors.”
Low level, wall mounted Signature model fan convectors from Smith’s Environmental Products provide style and comfort, combined with a safe low-surface temperature casing. Sterling convectors provide the same levels of comfort but are fitted unobtusively at high level, allowing for maximum use of wall space while ensuring that the heat source is safely out of reach. These products are equally at home in the bathroom, study, utility room or conservatory.
Local residents will use Lowick Community Hall for their Parish Council, Mothers with Toddlers Group, the Lowick Young Farmers Group and the Women’s Institute, along with a number of other groups and social events. | |
