Paroc Panel System UK Ltd has launched a new facade solution that combines the benefits of a high performance composite panel with an advanced rainscreen system. The new Total Wall system has been designed to expand the external finish possibilities of building design, while significantly reducing on-site build times.
The innovative solution is based on Paroc's thermally efficient, fireproof composite panel system, which is manufactured using high performance mineral wool, encased in two steel sheet facings. The rainscreen element of the Total Wall system consists of metal cassettes, which are fitted to the exterior cladding panel using a precision-calculated carrier system.
The cassettes are constructed using advanced structural bonding technology that combines an aluminium honeycomb core with a light gauge, pre-finished metal skin. The result of this composite design is a high performance rainscreen system that is exceptionally flat and features tight radii at panel edges to achieve a precise cassette finish.
Denis Beardmore, managing director of Paroc commented: 'Increasingly, building designers want to achieve more visually stimulating exterior finishes for the buildings they create and they are also looking for building systems that improve the efficiency of the build process. The Total Wall system was developed to provide a single solution to both of these issues.
'Firstly, it delivers a high performance finish that creates a more architecturally pleasing appearance than can be achieved using conventional composite panel systems. In addition, as the system is based on a high performance external cladding panel, it is extremely strong and can span in excess of eight metres without the need for additional structural support. As a result, the Total Wall system negates the need for any secondary steelwork, which significantly streamlines the construction process.'
As well as its aesthetic properties and fast build times, the Total Wall system provides excellent levels of thermal insulation and can achieve a U-value of just 0.16 W/m2K. Also, as the panels are mineral wool based and will not ignite or burn, they are classed as non-combustible.
