Temporary handrailing structures assembled using fittings from Kee Klamp Ltd are helping to ensure the smooth-running of Shepherds Bush Underground Station as major renovations are undertaken in the multi-million pound White City development project.

The busy Central line station is being extensively re-modelled to include a totally re-built and enlarged ticket hall, step-free access to the platforms and complete modernisation. During this construction project, passenger access is still required to finished areas of the new station via a temporary entrance ramp and platform. Project structural engineer, Waterman Structures, has specified fittings from the Kee Klamp® and Kee Access, product ranges in the assembly of tubular handrailing structures alongside the main access points. Chosen for its ease of installation, versatility and speed of build, the Kee Klamp solution has ensured safe, trouble-free entry and exit for all passengers during this phase.

The Kee Access series is designed to meet the needs of the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) and gives a smooth, ‘not cold to the touch’ handrail with size 7 tube (outside diameter 42.4mm). In meeting these requirements, the handrailing structure at Shepherds Bush will ensure optimum safety, guidance and accessibility for all users. As shown on this project, the Kee Access range can be easily augmented with fittings from the established Kee Klamp® range to create a complete, cost-effective answer to DDA requirements.

Kee Klamp is a leading global supplier of fittings and bespoke systems for railings, barriers, roofedge protection and fall prevention. Established in 1934 the range has expanded from the original Kee Klamp products into a portfolio of safety equipment, all designed to protect people and prevent accidents. Kee Klamp Ltd is certified to BS EN ISO 9001 and has offices in the UK, USA, Germany Dubai France and Canada.
